Nutrition Counselling

Nutrition Counselling is the promotion of good health through food and nutrition. With an extensive understanding of the sciences related to foods and human nutrition, our Registered Dietitian separates fact from fiction and healthy eating plans from unsafe diets.
A Registered Dietitian provides nutrition counselling to clients at all stages of life, including those with particular medical conditions such as hypertension, heart disease and obesity. Dietitian’s provide nutrition education and develop eating plans based on client's individual needs, food preferences, cultural and health conditions.
Progress is monitored at follow-up appointments until the client's goals have been reached. Ongoing support to help the client adopt healthier eating habits is supplied through recipes, tips for shopping, cooking and eating in restaurants
Whether it is general wellness or disease specific guidance you seek, dietitians are to here to help. Special diets can be created to manage specific health conditions.

A dietitian is specially trained to assist you with:

Developing a nutrition plan that fits your lifestyle and personal needs.
Equipping you with tools to shop right, eat right and make wise food choices.
Teaching you how to implement your new nutrition plan.

What is the difference between a dietitian & a nutritionist in Ontario?

Nutritionists are not regulated by law and people do not require any training to call themselves "a nutritionist." There are no mandatory mechanisms to ensure that nutritionists are knowledgeable about nutrition and that they practice safely and ethically.
In Ontario, Registered Dietitians are highly educated in the sciences related to foods and human nutrition and they are trained to apply their knowledge in a variety of settings. Registered Dietitians are required to continue their professional development to remain current and expand the competencies needed for delivering high quality services. Other people may provide nutrition advice but under Ontario law, only Registered Dietitians are regulated by Ontario by-laws, therefore the public can trust that dietitians are
highly qualified to give safe and effective nutritional advice.
